This is an important opportunity for all of us in Bolinas. The County is considering placing a stop sign at Park and Brighton, along with red “No Parking” zones extending from that corner in either direction (see map below). This is being done to provide better sight lines for vehicles coming to the intersection in an easterly direction toward downtown. This is important to us all because it slows traffic, designates open areas along our residential streets and indicates a willingness on the part of the County to consider improvements in our street safety. You can see detail in the County DPW letter attached below.
We also would like to suggest that you mention two additional actions that we think would alleviate a couple of critical issues Bolinas deals with almost every weekend - speeding vehicles and illegal/intrusive parking:
- Speed bumps on Brighton from Park to the beach would slow vehicles and help protect pedestrians, cyclists, personal property, and other vehicles.
-Striping legal parking places along Brighton, Wharf, Hill and Park would greatly reduce vehicle overcrowding, vehicular damage, blockage of residential driveways, obstruction of fire lanes, and illegal parking.
Please take a moment and look over the information and send in your comments. The process requires public input and your written support is important - send an email to both the County DPW and BCPUD by November 13, 2020. Your voice will make a difference!
